Belt Making Workshop with Great Flood Brewing Co.

  • Clayton & Crume 1901 Bardstown Road Louisville, KY, 40205 United States

WHEN

When Clay & Tyler can afford a Friday or Saturday night away from the ladies, we offer belt workshops. Typically this translates to 1-2 open classes a month, but special reservations can be made by contacting us with your desired date. We'll check our availability and see if we can make it happen!

WHERE

Offered at our beautiful shop, located in the heart of the Highlands. Our address is 1901 Bardstown Rd., near Douglass Loop and Bellarmine University.

THE WORKSHOP

A hands-on belt workshop is second-to-none. We've partnered with our favorite local brewery, Great Flood Brewing Co.-- located just 3 blocks up the street, to offer a pint of beer for each participant and a few growlers for everyone to share during the class. After a quick tour of the brewery, we'll return to the shop where Clay and Tyler offer a short guide on quality leather and what to look for in today's market. After examining a few leather hides and selecting the one with your desired tannage/patina, we'll walk the group through a 2-3 hour hands-on workshop. Starting with solid leather hides, we let you get your hands dirty and tackle each part of the process. From pulling the straps & punching individual holes by hand, to edge beveling and dye-ing for the perfect finish, each participant will walk away with a full-grain, solid brass leather belt. This serves as a wonderful gift for your man around birthdays, holidays, Valentine's, & Father's Day. We regularly book wedding parties, groups of buddies looking for a fun weekend gathering, and even couples looking for a fun date-night idea. No matter your background or experience with leather, we can ensure you'll walk away from our workshop with a greater appreciation for the craft and satisfaction with the product you created.
